Rooted in Nature
Spruce Creek Campground is rooted in connection—to the land, its history, and the families who return year after year. We try to provide a Ecologically sound space for people to experience nature.
About Us
Spruce Creek Campground is a family-owned and operated campground located in Herkimer County, New York, at the foothills of the Adirondacks in the Town of Salisbury. The 34-acre property is nestled along nearly a mile of Spruce Creek, a NYS-stocked brown trout stream, on the historic Youker farmstead originally purchased in 1947 by Earl and Nina Youker.
Our Story
The Gillingham family is proud to own Spruce Creek Campground. With backgrounds in wildlife ecology, conservation, and nutrition, they’re passionate about protecting the land while creating meaningful outdoor experiences. As parents, they’re committed to building a place where families can connect, explore, and make lasting memories.
History
In 2009, Joseph, a retired service member, and Donna, a retired teacher, partnered with Lois Youker to bring a long-held dream to life—the creation of Spruce Creek Campground. Lois was able to see this vision realized before her passing in 2017 at the age of 84.
